The
Apostle Philip Witnessed to Nathanael
2
(John
1:45)
Philip
found Nathanael and told him, "We have found the one Moses wrote about
in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote--Jesus of Nazareth, the
son of Joseph."
3
Jesus Christ who came
to this world started his ministry at 30 years old.
The first thing Jesus did was to call his 12 apostles.
4
Jesus called Peter,
John, Andrew, and James as the first four apostles.
They followed Jesus without any hesitations.
5
Today Jesus asked
them to go to Galilee.
There was a reason for that.
Jesus was trying to meet Philip there.
6
Jesus told Philip.
"Follow me."
Philip followed Jesus without any hesitation also.
Philip was from the same hometown as Peter and Andrew.
7
Philip was so happy
to become one of Jesus` apostles. Philip was so proud of being one of Jesus`
apostles. So he told his friend about this.
8
Philip went to
Nathanael whom he knew very well.
Philip told Nathanael about Jesus.
"I have found the Messiah whom was told about by Moses and many of the
other prophets. He is Jesus from Nazareth, the son of Joseph."
9
However, Nathanael
was not that convinced by that saying.
"Hey, how can anyone great as that come from Nazareth?"
Nathanael did not believe what Philip said.
10
But Philip did not
stop to tell about Jesus to Nathanael.
"Let`s just go and meet him once, it's never too late to talk and meet
with him."
Philip persuaded Nathanael earnestly.
11
Nathanael could not
turn his friend's request down so they went to meet with Jesus. When Jesus
saw Nathanael he said. "This man has no lies in his heart, he is one of
the true Israelites."
12
Nathanael was
surprised that Jesus talked to him as if he knew him. So he asked to Jesus.
"Do you know me?"
13
Jesus replied to
Nathanael.
"Philip, before I met you, I knew you when you were under the fig tree.
" Nathanael was so surprised. Because it was true that he was under a
fig tree.
14
Nathanael confessed
to Jesus who knew himself even before they had met.
"Jesus, you are the Son of God, and the true king of Israel."
15
Jesus said to
Nathanael. "You believe in me because I said that I saw you under the
fig tree. However, from now on, you will see even bigger things than
that."
From then on, Nathanael became one of Jesus` apostles.
16
Nathanael was able to
became an apostle because of Philip. Philip met Jesus and brought his friend
Nathanael to Jesus. That`s why Nathanael was able to become one of Jesus`
apostles.
17
We also have met
Jesus like Philip. It is our responsibility to bring our friends like
Nathanael to Jesus. We should tell about Jesus to our friends and let them
meet our God so that they too can become children of God.
