David Repented of his Sin

2

2 Samuel 12: 13-15 (NIV)

Then David said to Nathan, ¡°I have sinned against the Lord.¡±

Nathan replied, ¡°The Lord has taken away your sin. You are not going to die. But because by doing this you have shown utter contempt for the Lord, the son born to you will die.¡±

3

David who was recognized as one who pleased God became the king of Israel.
However, after he became the king, he was caught off guard for a little while and committed a big sin.

4

David committed a really bad sin that he fell in love with the wife of his faithful servant, Uriah. So David became very distressed.

5

David decided to do an even worse thing to cover up for his wrong doings. David wrote a letter to Joab to put Uriah in the frontline of the war where the fighting would be the fiercest and let him to die there.

6

After this happened, one day, the prophet Nathan came to David.
David welcomed him.
"Welcome, what can I do for you?"

7

The prophet Nathan told him a story, "There were two men in a certain town, one rich and the other poor.

8

The rich man had a very large number of sheep and cattle, but the poor man had nothing except one little ewe lamb he had bought which he raised very well.

9

This sheep grew up with him and his children.
It shared his food and drank from his cup.

The poor man loved it so much and he was always with it.

10

Now a traveler came to the rich man, the rich man wanted to serve him but the rich man refrained from taking one of his own sheep or cattle to prepare a meal for the traveler who had come to him.

11

Instead, he took the lamb that belonged to the poor man and prepared it for the traveler."
Nathan's story ended there.

12

David burned with anger against the man and said to Nathan, ¡°As surely as the Lord lives, the man who did this must die! He must pay for that lamb four times over, because he did such a thing.¡±

13

Then Nathan said to David,

¡°You are the man! You have so many wives given by God but you killed Uriah and took his wife. God is very disappointed in you so He will bring calamity upon you."

14

Then David admitted his sin on the spot. ¡°I have sinned against the Lord.¡±
He realized how big of a sin he had committed and sincerely asked forgiveness about his sin from God.

15

God said through Nathan."God has forgiven your sin."
God forgave David and restored the relationship with him because he sincerely repented of his sin. David repented of his sins through his whole life and walked with God.

16

We could also be drowning by sin but God let us to find out our sins through the Holy spirit as He sent Nathan to David. God is the one who forgives us if we sincerely repent and pray with no matter how big our sin is.

17

The one who really does love God is also the one who will repent and receive forgiveness from God when the Holy spirit let us to realize it. Then we should live as one who has been forgiven. We should always do our best to not commit sins. But when you commit a sin, be faithful to ask forgiveness from God and quickly gain your restored relationship with God back again.
