Jesus
Loved us so much that He Suffered on the Cross
2
About
the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama
sabachthani?"--which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken
me?" And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his
spirit. (Matthew 27:46,50)

¡°There
should be no mistake in today's plan." "This Judas Iscariot will
lead you to Jesus. Follow him and catch Jesus." The religion leaders
wanted to kill Jesus so they secretly told the soldiers to catch Jesus.
4
The
soldiers followed Judas Iscariot and went to Jesus. Judas Iscariot was once a
disciple of Jesus. Before, Judas Iscariot served Jesus but he sold Jesus for
only 30 pieces of silver.
5
The
soldiers followed Judas Iscariot and went to the Garden of Gethsemane because
Jesus was praying in that place. Jesus already knew what would happen to him
but Jesus did not run away. Instead, Jesus prayed to God with all of his
heart.

The
soldiers brought swords and weapons as if they were catching a robber. They
went to Jesus and they arrested him. Jesus did not do any wrong thing but
they wanted to kill Jesus. They brought Jesus to the high priest named
Caiaphas.
7
The
high priest Caiaphas asked to Jesus, "Are you the Son of God and are you
the Messiah?" Caiaphas asked these questions because he wanted Jesus to
make a mistake.
8
Jesus
replied, "You are right. And on the last day of this world, you will see
me riding on the clouds and coming down to this world."
9
Caiaphas
then tore his clothes and said, "Everyone, now you have heard it? This
person is telling us that he is the Son of God. He is insulting God. What
should we do with this person?"
10
The
people shouted, "He should die."
They spit on the face of Jesus and they hit him.
11
Jesus
did not lie. Jesus came to this world as the Son of God.
Jesus
came to forgive all of our sins and on the last day, Jesus will ride on the
clouds and come down to judge the world.
12
But
the people who were trying to kill Jesus were lying that Jesus was wrong.
The whole night, Jesus suffered like this.
13
The
next morning, the high priest and the elders made a very scary plan.
"Now, we can kill that Jesus." "Yes, let us use the people to
bring that Jesus to the governor and tell him that we should kill him."
14
They
brought Jesus to Pontius Pilate. But Pontius Pilate was not able to find
anything wrong with Jesus. "I did not find any sins from this man."
15
But
the people shouted even louder. "Kill Jesus on the cross."
"Kill Jesus on the cross." Pontius Pilate became afraid that the
people might get more angry and start a rebellion against him.
16
So
Pontius Pilate had Jesus whipped. Then he gave Jesus to the people.
"Here, here is Jesus so do anything you want." Pontius Pilate gave
Jesus to the people to kill Jesus on the cross.

Crucifixion
on a Roman cross is the most cruel and scariest punishment. Jesus carried the
cross and went up to the Golgotha Hill. Jesus did not do anything wrong but
Jesus got his hands and feet pierced to a cross. Jesus suffered very much.
Then, Jesus said, "It is finished." Then, Jesus died.
18
The
reason why Jesus died on the painful cross is not because Jesus was weak.
Jesus could have come down from the cross and Jesus could have called his
angels to fight those people who were nailing him on the cross. But Jesus
came to this world to forgive our sins so Jesus just endured all that pain.
This week, we should thank Jesus for all that he suffered and we should think
about his great grace. How about trying to only watch a little bit of TV and
only playing the internet a little bit this week so that you can have more
time to think about Jesus. I hope all of you, our dear friends of faith, will
always remember to think about Jesus dying on the cross for us.
