Jesus Honored his Parents

2

[Proverbs 23:25]

"May your father and mother be glad; may she who gave you birth rejoice!"

3

Let us read again the passage of Proverbs in easier words.
"Make your parents glad. Make the ones that bore you happy."

4

One of the ten commandments talks about parents like this.
"Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you."[Exodus 20:12]

5

God told us that God will help people who honor their parents to become successful in this world. That is why we should talk politely and be courteous to our parents. We should respect them and be polite as much as possible.

6

Jesus came to this world to save us. Jesus is the King of kings but he came to this world by being born in a very low and humble stable in Bethlehem. Jesus also had a physical father Joseph and mother Mary.

7

Jesus was avoiding King Herod and went to Egypt. After King Herod died Jesus returned to a town called Nazareth. Jesus spent his childhood in Nazareth. That is why people call Jesus, Jesus of Nazareth.

8

The Book of Luke recorded the childhood of Jesus.
"Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. [Luke 2: 51]" Jesus was a child who obeyed the words of his parents well.

9

He obeyed his parents well and he also worked hard to obey the words of God.
As Jesus grew in age, his wisdom about God also grew.
Jesus became very dear to the people around him.

10

The work of Jesus' father Joseph was a carpenter.
The work of a carpenter is physically hard and tough.

11

Jesus helped his father Joseph.
Jesus worked with his father very diligently that all his neighbors knew Jesus.

12

Jesus did his best to honor his mother, too.
It was when Jesus was crucified on the cross to save us from our sins.
At the cross, his beloved mother and disciple of Jesus, Mary was grieving.

13

Even in the great pain on the cross, Jesus felt compassion upon seeing his mother grieving. Jesus said to his beloved disciple John "Look, here is your mother." This was asking John to take care of his mother. From that time, John followed the words of Jesus and earnestly served Mary.

14

Also, while Jesus was in this world, he perfectly obeyed the words of God, his Father in heaven. The night before the crucifixion of Jesus, Jesus prayed until late at night at the Mount of Olives.

15

"My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will."

Even to death, Jesus followed the words of God, his Father.

16

We, who believe in Jesus and have become children of God, should work hard to follow Jesus. Jesus solely obeyed his parents. We should also do like Jesus. We should work hard to become someone who can make our mother and father glad.

17

Jesus was loved by the people around him when he was young. Just like Jesus, you should also become children who can be complimented by the adults around you. God takes a close look at children who honor their parents and blesses them.
