The God who kept David in the rebellion of Absalom
|
2
|
|
[2 Samuel 18:14]
Joab
said, "I'm not going to wait like this for you." So he took three
javelins in his hand and plunged them into Absalom's heart while Absalom was
still alive in the oak tree.

David, who was the great king of
Israel, had great difficulties.
It is because his son Absalom rebelled
against the king's place.
Absalom was coming to the palace to
lead the army and remove David.
|
4
|
|
David inevitably escaped from Absalom
and left the palace and went barefoot on the way to the wilderness.
The followers of King David left
together in the wilderness in sadness.
Some who have seen this, saying that
God punished David.
|
5
|
|
Absalom's rebellion proceeded
successfully.
The people and many high officials
were with Absalom as king.
Absalom was a man with a good-looking
appearance and ability to serve as a king. especially his long hair made him look
better.
|
6
|
|
But God did not like Absalom to be
king of Israel.
God kept David to the end so that
Absalom could not catch David and David's followers. Absalom's plan failed many times.
|
7
|
|
There was a great war between the army
of King David and the army of his son Absalom. The name of the commander of David was
Joab.
They divided into three units and went
to war against Absalom.
|
8
|
|
King David asked the soldiers to go to
war.
"Do not kill my son Absalom, but let
him live and arrest you."
David took his kingship and rebelled,
but he still loved Absalom.
|
9
|
|
A big war began in the great forest
called Ephraim.
God was with the army of King David.
As time went on, the soldiers of King
David were winning.
The soldiers of Absalom were greatly
defeated in battle and began to run away.
|
10
|
|
When Absalom realized that the
rebellion had failed, he began to run away on the mule.
Then Absalom met the soldiers of King
David on the escape route.
Absalom hastily ran away from the
soldiers of King David and began to run away.
|
11
|
|
There was a very large oak tree on the
way of Absalom.
Absalom drove a mule there to pass
under an oak tree.
As soon as the mule passed under the
oak tree, the long hair of Absalom was swept up by the branches, and only the mule
escaped through the tree.
|
12
|
|
Absalom could not move because of the
hair on the sturdy branches.
He could not come down with any
struggle.
Absalom, whose hair was wrapped in a
tree, was hanging in the air like that.
|
13
|
|
The soldiers of King David who pursued
Absalom found him hanging on the tree.
Joab, who heard the news, arrived
there.
Joab the commander ordered the
soldiers to kill Absalom.
|
14
|
|
But they knew the commandment of King
David, so no one tried to kill Absalom.
However, General Joab thought that he
must kill Absalom who committed rebellion.
General Joab took three spears in his
hand and killed Absalom in the wood.
So Absalom's rebellion plan was
totally unsuccessful.
|
15
|
|
Absalom, who was proud of his
wonderful hair, received praise and exaltation from many people and tried to exalt himself and
become king.
Absalom, who was going to become king
himself, regardless of God's will, came to his disastrous final due to his beautiful
hair.
|
16
|
|
King David heard the news that Absalom
was dead, and he was in so great sorrow.
David called the name of Absalom and
wept in the room above the gate.
Through David, God showed us how
difficult and painful the fulfillment of God's plan is on this earth.
|
17
|
|
God brought David back to his place.
In the future, God will protect David
in order to fulfill His plan to come
to this earth as a descendant of David. David showed
that God's plan did not fail in any case.

Through today's sermon, we must learn
that no matter how much people think they are right, but what God does not allow is never
accomplished.
As a matter of fact, we must believe
that God does not shake in difficult times,
but He will surely protect those who
trust and depend on God.
I hope you will be a man of faith who
cares deeply in the preaching of today's sermon and believes in our God at any moment
and obeys His Word.
