The vineyard workers who received a denarius
|
2
|
|
[Matthew
20: 13-14]
"But he answered one of them,
'Friend, I am not being unfair to you.
Didn't you agree to work for a
denarius?
Take
your pay and go. I want to give the man who was hired last the same as I gave
you.

|
|
There was a owner with a vast
vineyard.
The owner went out into the street
early in the morning to call workers
to work in the his vineyard.
|
4
|
|
The owner of the vineyard told the
people gathered there.
¡°I will give you a denarius if you
work all day in my vineyard today¡±
One denariion was worth the day's
wages.
|
5
|
|
¡°If you give us work, we will work
hard in the vineyard.¡±
These people promised to work one day
at a denarius and went to the vineyard.
They were very happy because they were
able to earn a day's worth.
|
6
|
|
At around 9:00 am, the owner went back
to the market.
There were gathered people who could
not get jobs. so the owner told them.
¡°Even if you work in my vineyard now, I
will give you as much wages as I deserve.¡±
|
7
|
|
These people could have spent the day
without work,
but with great gratitude to the owner
of the vineyard who helped them to work,
they began to work in the vineyard.
The owner went to the market to find
people to work at 12 pm and 3 pm.
then he said to them,
¡°You also go to the vineyard and work.
I will calculate the appropriate wages.¡±
|
8
|
|
The owner went to the market at 5 pm,
when the day's work was nearly finished.
There were other people there. the
owner asked them.
¡°Why are you standing around all day?¡±
|
9
|
|
They answered, ¡°No one gave us a job.¡±
The owner also told them. ¡°You also go
to my vineyard and work.¡±
They worked in the vineyard with the
hope of earning a small sum of money.
|
10
|
|
Everything is finished at 6 PM.
The owner said, ¡°call on the workers
and give them the wages
from the laborers in the morning to
the laborers in the afternoon¡±
|
11
|
|
Workers who came late in the afternoon
only worked one hour.
The owner gave a denarius to the
workers who came to work in the vineyard at the latest.
|
12
|
|
The owner gave the same denarius to
all who came in at 3 pm, at 12 o'clock,
and at 9 o'clock in the morning.
The workers were so grateful for the
grace given by the owner of the vineyard.
There were people who saw this sight
and had anticipation.
|
13
|
|
They are the earliest one who have
been promised a deniarion
and come to work in the vineyard.
They thought that people who worked
less than their own time would receive a denarius,
and they would give them more wages.
|
14
|
|
But they were given the same denarius.
Those who received a denarius
different from their expectations complained
to the owner of the vineyard.
¡°How can you give the same wages to
those who have worked only one hour and those
who have labored in the hot sun all
day long?¡±
|
15
|
|
The owner asked them. ¡°Look at this. Do
I have something wrong?
You promised to work for a denarii.
I kept that promise. I have given you
a denarius which i promised you,
that you may receive it and go back.¡±
|
16
|
|
The owner kept saying.
¡°I gave grace to them and gave them
more money for the wages of those
who had worked less.
does it tell me that I have been
displeased with the things I have given grace to others?
It is my will to give grace.¡±
|
17
|
|
This is a lesson that Jesus gave to
remind people of the wrongs of the kingdom of God.
God's kingdom is different from the
world.
Those who have worked for only an hour
have received a denarius
because they have been blessed by the
owner. it was not the cost of their efforts.
Therefore, the kingdom of God is not
the place where we are paid for
by our efforts unlike the world, but
only by the grace of God
|
18
|
|
The same is true of our salvation. We
are people who have no merit to be saved.
We can be saved only because God has
given us grace that we cannot tell.
Therefore, we must always behave
humble as children of God.
And we must always live in love and
thanking God's grace.
