King Ahab ignoring God's warning

2

[1 Kings 22:29~30]

So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead.

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "I will enter the battle in disguise,

but you wear your royal robes." So the king of Israel disguised himself and went into battle.

3

Jehoshaphat king of Judah had been to Samaria to visit king Ahab.

King Ahab encouraged king Jehoshaphat to fight together.

King Jehoshaphat heard Ahab's words and decided to attack the place called Ramoth Gilead.

4

Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, made a request to king Ahab before he went to war.

¡°It is good to ask God before going to war.¡±

Jehoshaphat's request was not good, but king Ahab replied.

5

King Ahab gathered about 400 prophets and asked them whether it would be good or not to war. The prophets answered.

¡°Go to war, and the Lord God will hand them over to the king.¡±

The prophets said that the king of Ahab would win in battle, but this was not God's answer.

6

After that, Micaiah the prophet of God came before king Ahab. Micaiah prophesied this.

¡°The Israeli army will be greatly defeated in this war.

God also said that the Israelites would lose their leader because of the war.¡±

Micaiah warned that if he went out of war, king Ahab would die.

7

Angry king Ahab commanded Micaiah to imprison him until he returned from the battlefield.

So Micaiah warned king Ahab again.

¡°King Ahab, if you return safely from the battlefield, what I said to you will not be the Word of God. All the people here will be witnesses in my words.¡±

8

Ignoring the warnings of Micaiah, king Ahab and Jehoshaphat went against Ramoth Gilead.

King Ahab was uncomfortable with the words of Micaiah. So he decided to cheat.

9

King Ahab disguised himself as one of his soldiers.

And king Jehoshaphat went into battle in his armor.

Finally, the battle began in Ramoth Gilead.

10

During the war, the king of Aram(Syria) ordered the commanders.

¡°You do not have to deal with other soldiers, whether high or low.

But seek the king of Israel and fight him¡±

The commanders of the Aram army went out looking for someone who looked like the king of Israel.

11

The commanders of the Aram army found King Jehoshaphat and began to attack him.

As Jehoshaphat flew away, he cried out in a loud voice.

¡°I am not Ahab king of Israel. I am not Ahab king!¡±

12

God helped Jehoshaphat.

The commanders of the Aram army let him know that Jehoshaphat was not the king of Israel.

They did not chase Jehoshaphat anymore.

13

One of the soldiers of the Aram army shot an arrow unintentionally toward the side of Israel. But the arrow fled away, and it stuck to the body of King Ahab who disguised himself as a soldier in the army. The arrows shot without thinking are precisely aligned with the gaps that are not covered by armor.

14

The king of Ahab, who was greatly wounded, was about to leave the battlefield by rushing the chariot.

But he was so fierce that he could not easily get out of battle. King Ahab stood standing barely in the chariot, shedding much blood.

15

In the evening King Ahab died on the chariot.

The prophecy of the prophet Micaiah was done as it is.

On that day, the armies of Israel were greatly defeated by the Aram army and returned to their place of residence.

16

King Ahab, who ignored the Word of God, was eventually killed by God's judgment.

To avoid the prophesied death, King Ahab took off his armor and disguised himself as a soldier, but the prophecy of God was fulfilled.

We could not deceive the eyes of God who knew everything.

17

It is a great sin to rebel against God because the word of God does not come to his heart like the one we learned today.

We who believe in God must be someone who can always say 'Amen' when given the right word of God.

I hope that today's teachings will be deeply engrained so that people of precious faith can obey God's Word in any circumstance.
