Faith that believes and obeys the Bible

|
[Exodus
24:7]
Then
he took the Book of the Covenant and read it to the people.
They
responded, "We will do everything the LORD has said; we will obey."

God
saved the Israelites from Egypt. The Israelites came to the wilderness of
Sinai within
three
months of their departure from Egypt. In the wilderness of Sinai they lived
in tents.
|
4
|
|
Moses,
who was called by God, went up to Mount Sinai to meet God.
God
told Moses to tell the Israelites what to say. ¡°Now if you obey me fully and
keep
my
covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession.
Although
the whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy
nation.¡±
¡°These
are the words you are to speak to the Israelites.¡±
|
5
|
|
Moses
came down the mountain to convey this content. And he preached the word of
God
to
the people. The elders and all the people answered Moses in one voice.
¡°We
will do as God says.¡±
|
6
|
|
God
who heard the answer of the people of Israel said that He would be present
as
Mount Sinai to meet the people of Israel.
Moses
spoke these words and told all the people to be prepared to meet God.
|
7
|
|
The
Israelites washed their clothes cleanly to meet the holy God.
And
they cleansed their minds.
|
8
|
|
On
the third day, there was a thick cloud on top of Mount Sinai,
and
thunder and lightning struck. a very big trumpet sounded.
Moses
led the people of Israel and stood at the foot of the mountain,
and
all the people were afraid and trembled.
|
9
|
|
Mount
Sinai, covered with foggy smoke, shook tremendously.
God
came down from the fire into the mountains.
God,
who came down to Mount Sinai, told Moses to come up to the top of the
mountain.
|
10
|
|
God
told Moses the ordinances that God's people should obey.
And
to declare those decrees to the people of Israel.
|
11
|
|
The
first word Moses delivered to the Israelites was the words of the Ten
Commandments, which they called the ten words of the covenant.
|
12
|
|
In
addition to these, the people of Israel have spoken the laws which they
should observe.
Just
as the Constitution, which we must observe,
is
the law that God's people must observe and do.
|
13
|
|
The
people of Israel who listened to the words of Moses answered with one voice.
¡°We
will follow the words of the Jehovah.¡± Moses wrote all the words of the LORD.
|
14
|
|
The
next morning Moses got up early in the morning and built an altar at the foot
of
Mount Sinai. And he built twelve stones for the twelve tribes of Israel.
|
15
|
|
Moses
sent the young men to offer burnt offerings, a burnt offering.
They
also offered cattle to the Lord as fellowship offerings.
Moses
took the blood of the offering and sprinkled it on the altar.
|
16
|
|
After
this, Moses took the covenant book and read it to the people.
When
all the written words were heard, the people spoke in one voice.
¡°We
will follow the words of Jehovah. We will submit to the Lord.¡±
Moses
sprinkled the people with the blood in the bowl and said, ¡°This blood is the
blood
of
the covenant which the LORD made with you concerning all these words.¡±
On
that day the people of Israel made a covenant before the Jehovah with blood.
|
17
|
|
Just
as the Israelites made a covenant with God, we are also people who made a
covenant with God with the blood Jesus shed on the cross.
A
covenant people is a people who obey God's Word and live according to His
Word.
Just
as the people of Israel have decided to live according to the word of God,
we
must renew our hearts by faith as we begin the new year.
And
I hope that you will be able to live the Word of God in the new year.
