Boas, who accepted Ruth as his wife
|
2
|
|
[Ruth 4:13]
So
Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife.
Then
he went to her, and the LORD enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a
son.
|

|
|
God
gave great grace to Ruth who came to Bethlehem to become a people of God.
By
accident, Boaz was the relative of Ruth's father-in-law,
Elimelech,
the master of the field,
to pick up the ears of barley.
Boaz was a man who could buy the land
of Elimelech and lead the family lineage.
|
4
|
|
Naomi
helped Boaz and Ruth get married.
When two people get married, the land
can be restored
and the lineage of the family can go
on.
|
5
|
|
It
was the day Boaz finished all the harvests and had a feast.
Ruth
went to Boaz at a late hour as Naomi instructed her, and secretly lay down on
his feet.
Boaz was surprised to see Ruth lying
on his feet asleep.
|
6
|
|
Ruth
asked Boaz to buy her own and family land and return it.
When
Boaz heard Ruth, he replied.
¡°May
the LORD bless you. Do not worry. I'll do what you want.
But there is a relative closer to me
than the one who will buy back the land of your family.¡±
|
7
|
|
Boaz
made this promise to Ruth.
¡°In
the morning I will see if he will buy the land of your family and return it.
If
he takes responsibility, I will follow him.
But
if he does not mean to buy your family land and return it,
I will do it. I swear by the living
Jehovah.¡±
|

|
|
The
next morning Boaz sat on the gates. Finally,
Boaz
saw a relative closer to him than he said to Ruth.
Boaz called and seated the man.
|
9
|
|
Boaz
called the ten elders in the city to join him.
Boaz
spoke to a closer relative of Ruth than he was.
¡°Now,
when our brother Elimelech was alive, he had the land, and Now Naomi,
who
returned from Moab, has the right to own the land.
The first person to buy the land and
give it back to Naomi,
If you do not buy it, I'll buy it and
give it back.¡±
|
10
|
|
Upon hearing Boaz, a relative close to
her said, ¡°I will buy the land and give it back.¡±
|
11
|
|
Boaz
said again.
¡°The
day you buy the field from the hand of Naomi, you also acquire Ruth the
Moabite,
the widow of the dead, in order to
perpetuate the name of the dead in his inheritance.¡±
|
12
|
|
There
is a Go'el system in Israel.
This
system requires that some relatives lose their field and fall into hardship
and
that
other relatives pay their debts on their behalf.
Also,
when a brother dies because he has no offspring,
it is a special law to marry a dead
brother's wife and to keep their offspring.
|
13
|
|
Then
the redeemer said, ¡°I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I impair my own
inheritance.
Take
my right of redemption yourself, for I cannot redeem it.¡±
This relative was afraid of his loss
and conceded it to Boaz.
He took off his shoes as a sign to
give up.
|
14
|
|
Boaz
spoke before the elders and everyone.
¡°You
are witnesses this day that I have bought from the hand of Naomi all that
belonged
to
Elimelech and all that belonged to Chilion and to Mahlon.
Also
Ruth the Moabite, the widow of Mahlon,
I
have bought to be my wife, to perpetuate the name of the dead in his
inheritance,
that
the name of the dead may not be cut off from among his brothers
and
from the gate of his native place.
You are witnesses this day.¡±

Boaz
took Ruth as his wife. Ruth was greatly loved by Boaz.
She
was blessed to be able to bear the field and family because of Boaz.
Because of Boaz, Ruth is able to live
a new life.
|
16
|
|
God
made Ruth pregnant and gave birth to a son. This son's name is Obed.
This
Obed is the grandfather of King David.
Ruth
became the great grandmother of King David.
Furthermore, Lot was blessed to be one
of the women who named the genealogy of Jesus.
|
17
|
|
There
is much greater love than Boaz did to Ruth. It is the love Jesus gave for us.
Jesus
died on the cross for our sins to welcome us as brides.
With
that great love we became the bride of Jesus.
We will be more and more loving Him
and living a life of glory to Him with a heart
that will pay back His grace.
