God
who gave twice the blessing to Job who won Satan's test
2
[ Job
42:10]
After Job had prayed
for his friends, the LORD made him prosperous again and gave him twice as
much as he had before.
3
Satan
greatly envied Job, who served God well in the land of Uz. Satan said that if
Job took all his possessions, Job would resent God and leave God. God allowed
Satan to test Job.
4
Satan has
taken away all that Job has. He lost all his fortune, and his 10 children died.
But Job did not grumble against God.
5
Satan, who
could not overcome Job, was greatly disappointed and went back to God. God
has rebuked Satan.
¡°Though you
provoked me without reason, to hurt Job, Is he not holding faith firmly?¡±
God greatly
praised Job for not grumbling against God, even though it was all taken away.
6
Satan who heard
these words made another request to God. ¡°But now stretch out your hand and strike his flesh and bones, and he
will surely curse you to your face.¡± Satan did not give up the job to bring down
7
The God who heard
these words spoke to Satan. ¡°Very
well, then, he is in your hands; but you must spare his life.¡± God
once again allowed Satan to test Job.
8
Satan
stepped back from God and suffered Job immediately. He made a sore so that
there was no place from Job's head to his toes.
9
Job was so
painful in his body. Job sat in the ashes and picked up the pieces of the
tile and scratched his whole body. His wife, cursed for Job, said, ¡°Believe
in God, give it up, and curse God and die.¡±
10
Job, who heard it,
says to his wife. ¡°You are
talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not
trouble?¡± Job received the unbearable pain of his sores, and kept his
faith in his mouth without sinning against God.
11
Job had
three very close friends. They are the ¡®Eliphaz¡¯ the Temanite, ¡®Bildad¡¯ the
Shuhite and ¡®Zophar¡¯ the Naamathite. They came to Job to comfort Job. Seeing
their horrible Job, their friends were shocked and tearing their robes and
crying.
12
Job was so
painful. So he cursed the day he was born before his friends. He said that if
he had not been born, he would not have had to suffer this pain. But he did
not blame God.
13
At first,
the friends who understood and comforted Job began to change. They began to
think that Job was in such a bad situation that he must have committed a
great sin to God.
14
From then
on, his friends told Job to repent if he had sinned against God. Job replied
that he had never sinned so that God would punish him. His friends, however,
bothered Job to confess his sins by saying that it was certain that he would
be punished by God.
15
Job
suffered from physical pain and great suffering from his friends. His friends
blamed Job for talking about God. In the midst of that, Job did not grumble
or sin against God.
16
In the end,
Satan could not overcome Job. Job overcame all the temptations of Satan by
faith. In all trials, God overcame Job by faith, much higher than before. God
gave Job's property twice as much as before, and gave him ten more children,
making Job the most honorable man.
17
Through
Job, God made it clear that there is no temptation to defeat true faith. Job
has suffered the greatest suffering man can suffer, but he never betrayed or
blamed God.
We also
have the same faith as Job who received Jesus as my Savior. If we have true
faith in Jesus, we can overcome any test given by Satan. I hope you will
realize this and become children of faith who live with a stronger mind.
