Paul preaching in Thessalonica and Berea

2

[Acts 17:3]

explaining and proving that the Messiah had to suffer and rise from the dead.
¡°This Jesus I am proclaiming to you is the Messiah,¡± he said.

3

Paul and Silas went to various places to preach the Gospel.
Today they arrived in a place called Thessalonica.

4

Wherever Jews live, there is a ¡°synagogue¡± where they can meet.
They gathered in the synagogue to learn the Bible. In Thessalonica,

where Paul and Silas arrived, there was a synagogue of Jews.

5

Paul went to the synagogue and began to discuss the Bible with those who gathered there.
Paul explained to them that the Messiah in the Old Testament was Jesus.
Paul witnessed Jesus over three weeks to the Jews gathered in the synagogue.

6

God made the manifestation of the gospel that Paul preached there.
There were people who heard the gospel of Paul and believed in Jesus.
Some of them converted to Judaism as Gentiles and came to the synagogue.

7

Among the people who accepted the gospel were high-ranking ladies.
The Jews were jealous of seeing people follow Paul and Silas.
They tried to drive Paul and Silas out.

8

They gathered bullies in the market.

Gathered bullies confused the city as if something big had happened in an instant.

Agitated people to make Paul and Silas come to their cities as if they had caused a big problem.

9

The Jews rushed to the house of ¡°Jason¡± to catch Paul and Silas with the bully ahead.
Jason was the man Paul and Silas accepted when they came to Thessalonica.
When the people arrived, Paul and Silas were not at the home of Jason.

10

The Jews, who could not catch Paul and Silas, instead captured Jason and others

who believed in Jesus and brought them to the village officers.
And accused them. ¡°People who disturb the world have come to our town.
But this man, Jason, allowed them to stay in his house. Those people broke the law of Caesar.
They said they had another king named Jesus and went against the emperor's orders.¡±

11

The officials who heard their complaints were embarrassed.
Excited officials were convicted of them without due process. The officials received bail money from the captured prisoners and other believers and released them.

12

That night, Thessalonica believers helped Paul and Silas safely go to Berea.

13

Paul's party who arrived at Berea did not stop visiting the synagogues and preaching

the gospel there. They also preached the gospel with zeal.

The people of Berea were truly noble.
None of them were Jews from Thessalonica.

14

They listened very hard to the gospel of Paul and Silas.

And I studied the Bible every day to know the meaning of the word.

God also helped many people in Berea to accept the gospel.

15

Many of those who heard the word received Jesus, and more surprisingly, many non-Jewish women and men in Greece received Jesus.

An amazing work of the Gospel also took place in Berea.

16

Even in Berea, evil Jews in Thessalonica heard that Paul was preaching the word of God.
They even came to Berea and stirred people and made a fuss.
Paul avoided them and went back to the place called 'Athens'.

17

Paul did not give up preaching Jesus despite any difficulties.
He knew that God had called the Gentiles to preach the gospel.
Paul did his best to do what God had entrusted to him throughout his life.
God, like Paul, called us to preach the gospel.

God also called us to preach the gospel to friends who do not believe in Jesus around us.
We too should not give up preaching Jesus. I hope you will also be a person of faith who spreads Jesus to other friends whenever you have a chance.
