God
Protected David from Saul's Evil Plan
|
2
|
|
[1 Samuel 18 : 26]
When the attendants told David these things, he was
pleased to become the king's son-in-law.
So before the allotted
time elapsed,
|
3
|
|
David defeated the Philistine general Goliath with a
slingshot.
From that time on, the people loved David. King Saul
began to envy David,
loved by the people.
|
4
|
|
David was playing a harp for Saul as usual.
An evil spirit entered Saul, who was jealous of
David. Saul began to speak like a madman.
|
5
|
|
Saul threw the spear he was holding in his hand at
David, saying,
¡°I must drive him into the wall.¡± David avoided the
spear.
But Saul again raised his spear and threw it at
David.
David escaped Saul's spear twice and managed to save
his life.
|
6
|
|
Saul, who failed to kill David, appointed David as
commander of a small unit and drove him away. David was driven out by Saul's
envy, but God was always with David.
God made David's troops win every battle they fight.
When Saul heard of David's victory,
he became increasingly afraid of David.
|
7
|
|
Saul used his daughter to make a justification for
sending David to a greater war.
Saul said to David, ¡°I will give you Merab my
daughter as your wife.
Instead, go out and fight bravely for Jehovah.¡±
|
8
|
|
As Saul said this, he thought: ¡°David will die at
the hands of the Philistines,
so I don't need to kill David.¡± Saul's taking David
as son-in-law was a strategy to
give him the honor of being the king's son-in-law
and instead send him out in the war
with the Philistines to kill him.
|
9
|
|
Upon receiving Saul's offer, David politely said
that he did not qualify.
¡°This hospitality is full of excitement for me.
My father's family is too small to be a king's
son-in-law.¡±
|
10
|
|
But Saul allowed David to marry his daughter Merab.
But before marriage, Saul did something terrible to
David.
Saul married his eldest daughter Merab to a man
named Adriel, not David.
Powerless David said nothing about it.
|
11
|
|
Saul knew that his second daughter, Michal, loved
David.
This time, he thought he would have to kill David by
tricking him for marrying Michal.
So he asked David again, "Would you like to be
my son-in-law?" As in the beginning,
David felt that he was not enough to be the king's
son-in-law.
|
12
|
|
Saul made his servants impulse that David should be
the king's son-in-law.
¡°King Saul likes you, and his servants like you, so
this time you must be his son-in-law.¡±
The servants told David what Saul told them to say.
|
13
|
|
When David heard this, he spoke humbly.
¡°Do you know that being a king's son-in-law is so
easy? I am poor and insignificant.¡±
David told them that he was not enough to be the
king's son-in-law.
|
14
|
|
Saul heard David's words and told his servants to
tell him one way to become son-in-law.
¡°The king said that if you killed 100 Philistines,
your enemies, and brought evidence that
you killed them, you would be his son-in-law.¡±
Saul's suggestion was to have David be killed by the
Philistines.
|
15
|
|
David wanted to be the king's son-in-law, so he
accepted King Saul's offer.
And he led his men out and fought the Philistines.
David killed 200 Philistines, twice as much as Saul
requested, and put 200 evidences
before Saul.
|
16
|
|
Saul was forced to give his second daughter Michal
as David's wife.
Saul knew that God was with David, and when he saw
that even his daughter Michal
loved him, he became more afraid of David.
David always won wars even after becoming the
king'sson-in-law.
David became more famous among the people.
|
17
|
|
Saul made many attempts to use the king's power to
kill David.
However, none of the plans could destroy David with
God.
God made David more famous by making David the
son-in-law of the king and
winning the war.
God showed through David that the strongest person
is the person God is with.
Believing in Jesus and becoming a child of God means
that you are blessed with God.
There is no power in the world that can destroy us
with God.
I hope to become children of faith who live with the
confidence of this faith.
