God
We Meet through the Parable of the Potter
|
2
|
|
[Jeremiah 18:6]
"O house of Israel, can I not do with you as
this potter does?" declares the LORD. "
Like clay in the hand of the
potter, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel.

God was greatly angry with Judah, who was filled
with sin.
God wanted the people of Judah to forsake their sins
and repent before they were destroyed.
At that time, ¡°Jeremiah¡± was used as a prophet to
preach the word of God.
|
4
|
|
God spoke to Jeremiah. ¡°Get up and go down to the
potter's house!
I will tell you my words there.¡± Following God's
word, Jeremiah went down to the potter's house.
The potter was working hard to make a vessel out of
clay.
|
5
|
|
The potter worked hard to make the vessel to get the
shape he thought.
However, the vessel that was made was different from
what he thought.
The potter didn't like the vessel he made.
|
6
|
|
The potter crushed the vessel. From that mud, I
started making vessels again.
The potter did this over and over again.
|
7
|
|
The potter succeeded in crafting a vessel that
satisfies his heart.
He made a vessel over and over again until his
favorite vessel was made.
Thus, he finally made a bowl that fits his heart.
|
8
|
|
After seeing the process, God spoke to Jeremiah.
¡°O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this
potter does?" declares the LORD. "
Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in
my hand, O house of Israel.¡°(Jeremiah 18:6)

The potter can do whatever he wants with the mud. In
this way,
God is saying that He is the One who can do all the
nations of this world according to His will.
God said that He is the Master of the whole world as
an example of two nations.
|
10
|
|
The first nation is the one God has decided to
destroy.
This nation has done many evil things.
God said that He would uproot and destroy the
kingdom.
|
11
|
|
No matter how big and strong a nation is, if God has
decided to destroy it,
it will have no choice but to perish. But God said
that if they hear the warning and
repent of their mistakes, they will live.
He said that he would reap the first plan he had made
to destroy.
|
12
|
|
This is the case for the second country. This
country is a country that has received the
blessed promise that God will establish himself.
God has decided to make this country a great nation.
He said that he would exalt this country above other
countries.
|
13
|
|
However, if this promised nation does not obey God's
Word and does evil as they want,
God said that he will reap the plan he had made for
this nation.
He said that he would not bless that country.
|
14
|
|
God told Jeremiah to tell this to the people of
Judah.
Jeremiah told the people of Judah that God was like
a potter and told them to repent.
However, the people of Judah did not listen to God's
warning and did not repent.
|
15
|
|
If they had heard Jeremiah's word of God and
repented,
God would have forgiven them with great love. The
people of Judah who did not listen to
God's warning from Jeremiah and who did not repent
were later destroyed by Babylon.
Judas, taking God's warning lightly, suffered in
captivity for 70 years.
|
16
|
|
The potter can make any vessel he wants, crush it,
or destroy it.
This is because the potter himself is the owner of
the vessel.
We must not forget that God, the creator of this
world, is the master of the whole world.
|
17
|
|
We, who believe in Jesus and become children of God,
are people who have the blessed promises of God. God loves us until he sent
his only Son, Jesus, to this earth and killed him on the cross.
I hope that we will live with the help of the Holy
Spirit to give joy to God who
made the whole world like a potter who makes
vessels.
