God Made Victory with Gideon and 300 Soldiers
|
2
|
|
[Judges 7:7]
he Lord said to Gideon, ¡°With the
three hundred men that lapped I will save you and give the Midianites into
your hands. Let all the others go home.¡±
|
3
|
|
God
made Gideon a judge to rescue the Israelites from Midian's hand.
Gideon blew his trumpet loudly to gather troops for war.
The number of people gathered was 32,000.
|
4
|
|
Gideon
took them and camped at the ¡°Spring of Harod.¡± The Midianites to fight them
were camping in a valley down a hill called the "Moreh." The number
of Midianite soldiers was far more than Gideon's soldiers.
|
5
|
|
But
God, who appeared to Gideon, said something completely different.
¡°There
are too many Israeli soldiers to fight the Midianites.
I
don't want to hear the Israelites boast of having fought on their own and
won.
So
tell the Israelites that whoever is afraid should go home.¡±
|
6
|
|
The
current number of soldiers is also less than that of Midian, and God was
telling Gideon
to
return those who were afraid of them.
Gideon,
who experienced the power of God, obeyed the word of God.
He
told the people. ¡°Any one of you who has a fear of war may return home.¡±
|
7
|
|
22,000
people left after hearing Gideon's words.
Over
a third of those who gathered have passed away. Gideon had only 10,000 men
left.
|
8
|
|
But
God spoke to Gideon again. ¡°There are still too many people. Take people to
the water.
I'll
try them. Only those who pass the test will go to war with you.¡±
|
9
|
|
Gideon
took people to the waters according to God's word.
The
people started to drink water. As they were drinking water, God spoke to
Gideon again.
¡°Separate
the one who drinks water with his tongue like a dog and the one who kneels
and
drinks
water.¡±
|
10
|
|
When
Gideon listened to Jehovah, he saw people drinking water.
Most
people knelt down to drink water, and a small number of people knelt and lick
water.
The
number of people who licked water was 300.
|
11
|
|
God
said to Gideon, ¡°I will try to defeat Midian with these 300 men who licked
the water.
Send
all others home¡± According to God's word, only 300 people left and the rest
were sent home. Gideon had only 300 soldiers left.
|
12
|
|
That
night, God spoke to Gideon. ¡°Get up, go down and attack Midian.
But
if you are afraid, take your servant Purah down to the Midian camp and listen
to what they say. After listening to that, you will be courageous to attack.¡±
|
13
|
|
Hearing
God's word, he took his servant Purah and secretly went down to the edge of
the enemy camp. The Midianite soldiers caught in the eyes of Gideon and Purah
were countless like grains of sand by the sea.
Then
he heard a Midianite soldier telling his dream story to a colleague.
¡°In
my dream, a loaf of barley bread came into our camp, and how strong it
pitched,
the
tent collapsed and it became flat.¡±
|
14
|
|
Another
soldier who heard the dream said, interpreting the dream.
¡°Your
dream has to do with the sword of Gideon, son of Joash, an Israelite.
God
will make Gideon defeat Midian and all the army.¡±
Upon
hearing this, Gideon thanked God and returned to his camp.
|
15
|
|
Gideon
was encouraged to speak to the Israelites.
¡°Wake
up! Jehovah God has made us overcome the Midianites.¡±
Then,
300 soldiers were divided into three units, each with a hundred men,
and
had a trumpet and a pot with a torch inside the pot.
|
16
|
|
Gideon's
300 warriors reached around the enemy camp in the middle of the night and
blew
a trumpet and broke the jar. And with a torch in their left hand and a
trumpet in
their
right hand, they said, "It is a sword for Jehovah and Gideon!"
Exclaimed.
|
17
|
|
When
300 Gideon soldiers blew the trumpets together, God worked.
He
made the Midian soldiers fight among themselves.
That
day, Gideon's 300 warriors defeated the great Midian and won a great victory.
God
saved Israel from Midian's hand through Gideon.
|
18
|
|
God
has allowed only 300 warriors to defeat Midian's large army.
Gideon
won great victory by obeying God's word.
The
Bible has shown through Gideon and 300 warriors that if you have the faith to
fully trust
in
God, you can overcome any great power in this world.
We,
who have been saved and become children of God, are different people in the
way
we
fight in this world. War is in the hands of God.
We
must be people who add our best and sincerity to our faith in God.
Such
a person will have the same victory as Gideon in any situation.
