The Love of Three
Gods
|
2
|
|
[Luke 1:35]
The angel answered, "The
Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will
overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God

There
was a girl named Mary in a town called Nazareth.
Mary
was the one who promised to marry a young man of faith, Joseph.
|
4
|
|
The
angel Gabriel appeared to preach the good news of God to Mary, who is about
to marry.
Gabriel
told Mary: ¡°Woman in grace! Rejoice, May the Lord be with you.¡±
|
5
|
|
Mary
was very surprised to hear what the angel said.
She
was afraid and couldn't know what the angel was saying to her.
The
angel spoke to Mary, who was afraid. ¡°Don't be afraid, God is showing you
favor.¡±
|
6
|
|
The
angel Gabriel continued to tell Mary the will of God.
¡°You
will conceive a child and have a son. Name him Jesus.¡± Gabriel prophesied
that the virgin
Mary
would become pregnant and give birth to a child named Jesus.
|
7
|
|
The
angel Gabriel also told her who the child Mary would have.
¡°He
will be called the Son of the Most High.
The
Lord God will give him the throne of his father David.
He
will rule Jacob's house forever, and his kingdom will never end.¡±
|
8
|
|
When
Mary heard these words, she said to the angel Gabriel.
¡°I
am a virgin who does not know a man, how can I conceive a child?¡±
Mary
could not understand what the angel was saying because she was a virgin.
It
was natural for Mary to respond that way.
|
9
|
|
The
angel Gabriel told her why it might be possible.
¡°The
Holy Spirit will come down to you and the power of the Most High will
surround you.
And
the child to be born will be called the Son of God.¡±
|

|
|
The
angel Gabriel also told her about God's miracles.
"Look!
Your relative Elizabeth is also old, but she is pregnant.
Elizabeth,
she thought she could not be pregnant, but she has been pregnant for six
months.
There
is nothing that God cannot do."
|
11
|
|
Mary
gained great faith when she heard that her elder relative Elizabeth was
pregnant.
Mary
said to the angel. "Look! I am the Lord's maidservant.
I
will believe that your word will come true to me."
When
the angel Gabriel saw that she had faith in Mary, he left.
|
12
|
|
It
was done just as the angel Gabriel said.
God
the Father sent God the Holy Spirit to Mary so that the virgin Mary became
pregnant by
the
power of the Holy Spirit. And in Mary's body, the Son of Jesus came down in human
form.
|
13
|
|
Jesus
came to this earth to accomplish what God had planned.
God
wanted to solve all the sins that humans bear.
That
is why Jesus, the only Son, was sent to this earth in human form.
|
14
|
|
There
were special things on the day when Jesus, who saved us, first revealed
himself to the world. Angels came down from heaven and declared to the
shepherds in the field that Jesus had come to this earth.
¡°But the angel said to them, "Do not be
afraid.
I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the
people.
Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he
is Christ the Lord.¡±
[Luke 2:10-11]

|
|
The
stars in the sky also announced the news of Jesus' coming down to earth.
The
big star, symbolizing Jesus, gave off a strong light. The light signaled the
birth of
a
new king to the wise men in the East, far from the Bethlehem stables.
|
16
|
|
Upon
hearing the news from the star, the doctors set out to find Jesus, who came
as king.
They
traveled long distances to Bethlehem to visit and worship Jesus.
Gold,
frankincense and myrrh were presented as gifts to thank and congratulate
Jesus for
coming
to this earth.

Christmas
is not just a day to celebrate the birthday of the baby Jesus.
It is
a day to remember and appreciate the love and grace that God, Jesus, came to
save us who became sinners.
It is
a day to learn the love of Jesus, who gave up all the glory of heaven and
came to this earth.
It is
a day when we learn and practice the love that Jesus gave us through being
humbled.
Through
this Christmas, I hope that you will be grateful for the love shown by Jesus'
humbleness
and
become people of faith who convey that love to your neighbors.
