After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need.

Title

1

May Jesus be Crucified!

2

[Mark 15:14-15]

¡°"Why? What crime has he committed?" asked Pilate. But they shouted all the louder,

"Crucify him!" Wanting to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them.

He had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified.¡±

3

Judas Iscariot, a disciple who had been with Jesus for three years, betrayed Jesus.

He received 30 pieces of silver and took people with swords and clubs to arrest Jesus.

These were the servants sent by the high priests, scribes, and elders.

4

Religious leaders who succeeded in arresting Jesus held a public meeting in the middle

of the night. They set up witnesses to kill Jesus by making any sin.

However, because the testimonies were all different from each other,

they could not sin against Jesus. Jesus did not answer their questions.

5

Then the high priest came out.

The high priest asked Jesus questions that could be condemned by the death penalty.

¡°Are you Christ the Son of the One to be praised?¡±

The high priest asked if Jesus was the Messiah who came to this earth.

6

Jesus answered the question. "Yes. You will see me sitting on the right hand side of the

Almighty and coming in clouds from heaven.¡±

Jesus accurately revealed that He is the Messiah.

7

When Jesus' words were over, the high priest tore his clothes and said.

¡°What more witnesses would you need? You have heard the blasphemy of God.

What do you think?¡± Everyone said that Jesus should be executed for blasphemy.

8

People lost their reason and spit on Jesus. They blindfolded and beat Jesus and said,

"Like a prophet, guess who has hit you." The guards also took Jesus and beat him.

9

They wanted Jesus to be executed on the cross according to Roman law.

So they handed Jesus over to Pilate for treason, saying,

<Refusing to pay taxes and saying that he is king>

However, Pilate knew that there was no sin to execute Jesus by Roman law.

10

Pilate, afraid of public sentiment, did not immediately release Jesus.

In Judea, there was a custom of releasing a prisoner, requested by the Jews on holidays.

At that time, people asked for the release of a prisoner.

11

Pilate cried out loud in front of the people.

¡°Do you want to release Jesus, who is called King of the Jews?¡±

Pilate knew how to ask for Jesus' release because the religious leaders envied him.

12

However, the high priests and elders agitated people.

They asked him to release Barabbas the robber instead of Jesus.

People shouted out. ¡°We want Barabbas¡± ¡°Let him go!¡±

13

Pilate was so embarrassed. And he asked them.

¡°Then what do you want to deal with this Jesus,

whom you call the King of the Jews?¡± Then the people cried out, "Crucifixion."

14

When Pilate heard that, he asked them again.

¡°What evil did this Jesus do to you?¡± But people shouted louder.

¡°Crucify him.¡± ¡°Crucify Jesus.¡±

15

Pilate thought that he could not do anything about the angry public sentiment.

He was afraid that if he did something wrong, it would lead to a riot.

Pilate was floating in the water, washing his hands in front of the crowd, and said:

¡°I have no responsibility for the blood this man sheds. As for the blood, you are to suffer.¡±

16

Those who heard Pilate shouted out loud.

¡°Give the blood of Jesus to us and to our children.¡±

Pilate handed over Jesus to them to be executed on the cross.

Roman soldiers took Jesus, put a crown of thorns on his head, beat him, spit on him,

and made fun of him and harassed him.

17

Jesus was crucified on the hill of Golgotha.

Jesus was crucified without any sin deserving the crucifixion.

Jesus died on the cross after suffering all sufferings to forgive all human sins.

18

The reason that Jesus himself died after pointing the cross was to obey God's will to save us.

He took all our sins and suffered death directly as a result of our sins.

He executed death with sin on the cross.

Anyone who believes in this will not suffer eternal death from sin.

Those who believe in Jesus and are saved do not go to hell, the second death.

He will have eternal life and will be blessed to live forever with Jesus.

This Friday is a feast day to remember the day when Jesus was crucified.

This week is called'Affliction Week' because it is the week of the day when Jesus suffered.

In Suffering Week, let's think deeply about the great love of Jesus,

who died on the cross to save me. Let's be a week to ponder the love of Jesus who

allowed salvation and gave eternal life as a gift.
