Let's
be a Person Who Pleases the Holy Spirit
|
2
|
|
[Romans 8:5-6]
Those
who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that
nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their
minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind of sinful man is death, but
the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace;
|
3
|
|
We
believe in one God. Also, we believe in the Triune God.
We
believe in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
|
4
|
|
Today,
I would like to share the word about God the Holy Spirit among the three
Gods.
The
Son of Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit to his disciples before going
to heaven.
|
5
|
|
On
the 10th day of Pentecost after Jesus' ascension, God the Holy Spirit came to
this earth.
God
the Holy Spirit comes to all who believe in Jesus and is with them.
Those
who believed in Jesus and were saved were blessed with the Holy Spirit.
|
6
|
|
Someone
with the Holy Spirit will experience a surprising change that has never been
before.
Romans
chapter 8 tells us exactly what happens. As you look at the contents,
I
hope you see if you are living with the Holy Spirit.
|
7
|
|
Before
believing in Jesus, everyone is bound by the law of sin and death.
Those
who are bound by the law of sin and death cannot escape the eternal judgment
of hell.
No
man can escape the law of sin and death on his own.
That
is why such people have no choice but to live as sin demands.
|
8
|
|
The
only way to break this is by faith in Jesus.
The
moment we take Jesus in our heart and accept Him as our Savior,
the
Holy Spirit frees us from the law of sin and death that binds us.
|
9
|
|
Those
who are freed from the law of sin and death have the power to no longer live
according
to sin. This is because the Holy Spirit helps the person not to live
according to sin.
The
Holy Spirit guides the person to live by keeping the Word of God.
|
10
|
|
Those
with the Holy Spirit have a different way of thinking than those who are
bound by sin.
Romans
8:5 says:
¡°Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on
what the flesh desires;
but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their
minds set on what the
Spirit desires.¡± (NIV)
|
11
|
|
Those
who live by the nature of sin, that is, those who are bound by sin, think of
what sin wants. Those who are bound by sin always think and act against God.
They
live by Satan's law because they cannot obey God's law.
They
speak dirty and vulgar words. They act on complaining and greed,
and
they are caught up in a selfish heart that hurts others and is unaware of
shame.
|
12
|
|
However,
those with the Holy Spirit think of the things the Holy Spirit wants.
The
Holy Spirit helps them so that they can think of the joy of the Holy Spirit.
They
say things that praise others. They also do not miss an opportunity to do
good.
They
are reconciled to their neighbors and say thanks for God's grace.
|
13
|
|
It
doesn't mean that we try to have a good heart.
When
the Holy Spirit is with us, we can have a good heart and act kindly.
Only
when the Holy Spirit is with us can we speak good words and love others.
|
14
|
|
Another
gift was given to us by the Holy Spirit, who freed us from slavery to sin.
He
made us who believe in Jesus become children of God.
He
made it possible for us to call God Abba, Father.
¡°For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again
to fear,
but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry,
"Abba, Father."¡±
(Romans 8:15)
|
15
|
|
No
matter how powerful a father in this world is, no one can compare with
Heavenly Father.
There
is nothing so proud of us that we can call God Abba, Father.
The
Holy Spirit himself testifies that God is our father.
|
16
|
|
Not
only this, there is a wonderful mystery about the saying that we have become
children
of
God. It reveals that they are allowed to inherit God's inheritance like
Jesus.
The
Bible clearly says that we, who believe in Jesus and are saved, can go to the
glorious
place
that Jesus enjoys.
¡°Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and
co-heirs with Christ,
if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also
share in his glory.¡±
(Romans 8:17)
|

|
|
Through
today's message, we know how great the blessings of those with the Holy
Spirit are.
We
must always be thankful, not forgetting that the Holy Spirit lives in us who
have been saved. Therefore, we must strive to do what the Holy Spirit desires
and rejoices.
Whatever
you do, you must always receive the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
The
Holy Spirit always helps and guides us when we seek Him.
I
hope that you will be people of faith who look into the will of the Holy
Spirit who dwells
in
you and do what he can please.
