A Special Food
of Jesus
|
2
|
|
[John 4 : 34]
¡°My
food,¡± said Jesus, ¡°is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his
work.
|
3
|
|
Jesus and his disciples went to Samaria called
Sychar once.
Jesus shared the gospel with a woman who was
alone at the well and came to draw water.
It was after the disciples had gone to the
village to get lunch.
|
4
|
|
The disciples who went down to the village
succeeded in preparing food to eat.
They returned to the well to have lunch with
Jesus.
Jesus was still preaching the gospel to the
woman.
|
5
|
|
The disciples were a little surprised when they
saw that Jesus was having a conversation
with a Samaritan woman. Because at that time it
was forbidden for Jews to speak
personally with a Samaritan woman.
The disciples were curious, but no one came
forward and waited until their conversation
was over.
|
6
|
|
After the conversation with Jesus, the woman's
face overflowed with joy.
She said that she hurried down to her village
without her water jar she had brought with her,
and it was only after the woman had left that
her disciples approached Jesus.
|
7
|
|
Then they put the food they had prepared in
front of Jesus and said.
¡°Eat some of Jesus¡¯ food.¡±
The disciples knew that Jesus was going to eat
right away because it was already past lunch time.
But Jesus was not in any hurry.
|
8
|
|
Jesus did not eat and spoke incomprehensible
words.
¡°I have food to eat that you do not know.¡±
After hearing Jesus' words, the disciples were
a bit bewildered and asked each other.
¡°Who brought food for Jesus?¡±
They thought that someone had served Jesus food
while they were on their way to the village.
|
9
|
|
Jesus continued his words.
¡°My food is to do the will of God who sent me,
and to complete God¡¯s work is my food.¡±
The food Jesus spoke of was not real food, but
a parable.
|
10
|
|
The food Jesus spoke of was about the woman who
just came to believe in Jesus.
She expressed that the woman's faith in Jesus
was the perfect fulfillment of God's will,
so she expressed that joy was the same as
eating food with her whole body full.
|
11
|
|
Jesus continued speaking to his disciples.
Don't you say, "Four months will pass before the
harvest time?"
But I tell you Lift up your eyes and see the fields.
The crop is ripe and it is time to harvest.¡±
|
12
|
|
Jesus continued to speak.
¡°For many who have already returned to God, the
coming of the Messiah to this earth has been
prophesied through the mouths of many previous
prophets.
Now you are getting the fruits of their hard
work.¡±
Jesus told his disciples not to make excuses
that it is not yet time.
He told them that if they do the work of
preaching the gospel,
as Jesus did, they will bear fruit.
|
13
|
|
Jesus came to this earth in obedience to the
Word of God to deliver us from our sins.
Even Jesus, who is God, considered it the most
important and precious thing to keep the
word of God while he lived on this earth.
So he preached the gospel to the Samaritan
woman he met while the disciples
were going to prepare food.
|
14
|
|
Jesus did his best to preach the gospel that is
pleasing to God.
The fact that the Samaritan woman came to
believe in Jesus as the Messiah was so good
that Jesus himself did not feel hungry even if
he did not eat.
So he said that when his disciples offered
food, there were other foods.
|
15
|
|
Jesus tells us, who are
disciples, to become people who preach Jesus.
There are already many seniors
of faith who worked hard ahead of us and sowed the seeds
of the gospel. Jesus says that
if we have the courage to preach the gospel,
we will reap the fruit.
|
16
|
|
Jesus, the Son of God, did his best to fully
fulfill God's will.
He regarded evangelism to those who did not
believe in Jesus as the most important task.
The joy that one person came to believe in
Jesus through evangelism was such a joy that he was full even without eating.
|
17
|
|
We must ask the Holy Spirit to have the same heart as
Jesus.
Also, we must have faith to confess that it is the most
joyous thing for a person to believe
in Jesus through evangelism.
You must strive to become a wonderful child of God who can
confess as Jesus said.
[John 4 : 34]
¡°My food,¡± said Jesus, ¡°is to do
the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.
