Miracles in
Capernaum and Nain

|
[Luke 7:7] [Luke 7:15]
¡°That
is why I did not even consider myself worthy to come to you. But say the
word,
and my servant will be healed.¡±
¡°The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him
back to his mother.¡±

|
There
was a centurion who worked in a place called Capernaum.
A
centurion is a soldier with a hundred men.
This
centurion had a servant he truly cherished. But the servant fell ill.
|
4
|

|
The centurion did
his best to heal his servant, but to no avail.
Servant's disease
deepened and he was unable to live long.
|
5
|

|
Then the centurion
heard that Jesus had come to Capernaum.
The centurion met
with some of the elders of Judah and asked.
¡°Go to Jesus and
tell him that the servant I love has fallen ill and is about to die.¡±
|
6
|

|
The elders who were
entrusted with the centurion met Jesus and said,
"Please do this
man's favor. He has built us a synagogue."
They asked Jesus
earnestly, telling Jesus that the centurion was a good man who
built a synagogue in
the village.
|
7
|

|
Jesus heard their
earnest request and went with the elders to the centurion's house.
As they approached
the centurion's house, the men sent by the centurion stood before Jesus.
|
8
|

|
They told Jesus what
the centurion had said.
¡°I don't deserve to
have a teacher at home. So I dare not go to the Lord.
Just say one word
and my servant will be healed.¡±
The centurion
thought it was impossible to stand before the high Jesus.
|
9
|

|
The men continued to
tell Jesus what the centurion had said.
¡°I am under other
people, and I have subordinates under me.
When I tell this
person to go, he goes, and when I tell him to come, he comes.
And when I tell my
servant to do this, he does it.¡±
|

|

|
The centurion
expressed his belief that because Jesus is high and great,
just one word would
heal his servant. Hearing the centurion's words,
Jesus was amazed at
his humility and faith.
|
11
|

|
And Jesus said to
the people who had gathered there.
¡°I tell you. I have
never seen such great faith in Israel.¡±
Jesus greatly
commended the centurion's faith.
|
12
|

|
Hearing all the
words of Jesus, the men sent by the centurion returned home and found
the dying servant
clean. According to the centurion's faith,
Jesus had already
healed the servant from his sickness.
|
13
|

|
After that, Jesus
and his disciples went to a village called Nain.
When he arrived near
the gates of Nain, he saw a dead boy brought in a coffin.
A mother who had
lost her only son was with her crying.
|
14
|

|
When Jesus saw that,
he had compassion on them.
He approached the
dead boy's mother and said, ¡°Don¡¯t cry.¡±
After saying this,
Jesus touched the coffin and stopped the people.
|
15
|

|
Jesus spoke to the
dead boy. ¡°Boy, I tell you, get up.¡±
After Jesus had
finished speaking, a miracle happened.
The dead boy came to
life and spoke.
|
16
|

|
Jesus sent the boy
to his mother. Those who saw this scene were terrified.
And they glorified
God and said, ¡°A great prophet has appeared among us!
God has taken care
of His people!¡±
The works of Jesus
spread throughout the land of Judea.

Through today's
Word, we should be able to see Jesus, the God who created the whole
world and created
life. Jesus is the word of life that God sent to this world.
The fact that the
centurion's servant, who was dying in Capernaum,
was healed and the
dead boy in Nain was brought back to life because Jesus is the God
who gives us true
life.
No matter what
difficulties we face in life, let us be thankful that Jesus, the Word of
life,
is with us. I hope
that all of us will be happy friends who walk happily with Jesus in
faith anytime,
anywhere.
