God with Joseph
|
2
|
|
[Genesis 39:2]
The LORD was with Joseph and he prospered, and he lived in
the house of his Egyptian master.

Joseph
is Jacob's eleventh son. His father Jacob loved Joseph more than his other
brothers. Jacob put on Joseph in colorful, long-sleeved clothes.
Joseph's brothers began to hate
Joseph for monopolizing his father's love.

|
One
day while Joseph was tying sheaves in the field, he had a dream in which his
brothers' sheaves were bowing down to his own.
Joseph told the story of a dream in which his brothers' sheaves bowed down to
his own.
The brothers were very displeased
and hated Joseph even more, saying,
¡°Do you know how to become our
king?¡±
|

|
|
After
some time, I also had a dream in which the sun, the moon, and 11 stars bowed
down to Joseph. It was a dream interpreted to mean that father, mother, and brothers
bowed down to Joseph. Joseph told the story of the dream from his father and
brothers.

|
|
Hearing
Joseph's story, his father Jacob also said, "Do you really believe that
your mother, your brothers, and even me will bow down to you?"
He scolded Joseph. When the brothers heard the second Joseph's dream, they
hated Joseph even more.

Jacob sent Joseph to come and see
if his brothers were tending the sheep well. Seeing Joseph coming to his
brothers, his brothers plotted to kill him.
Joseph's brothers stripped him of
the clothes that Jacob had given him and threw him into a large, waterless
pit.
There, Joseph fell into a
situation where he could die.

|
Fortunately,
Joseph's brothers changed their minds to sell Joseph to a passing Midianite
slave rader. The brothers sold Joseph to Midianite merchants for 20 pieces of
silver. Although Joseph did not die, he became a slave and was taken to
Egypt.
|

|
|
Joseph was taken to Egypt and sold to
the house of Potiphar, the captain of the royal guard of the king of Egypt.
Although he was made a slave, Joseph's faith did not waver.
Although he was a slave, he always depended on God for his work.
|
10
|
|
God was always with Joseph, who became
a slave in Egypt.
No matter what Joseph did, he helped
him achieve good results. Seeing Joseph yielding good results no matter what
he did, Potiphar knew that the God he believed in was with him.
|
11
|
|
Potiphar appointed Joseph, who was with God, as the
secretary in charge of all the affairs of the family. Joseph, who became
Potiphar's household secretary,
grew into a more wonderful young man. No matter what task he entrusted to
him, he made no mistakes and produced good results. Potiphar's wife began to
like this Joseph.
|
12
|
|
Potiphar's wife began to seduce Joseph
every day. But Joseph was firm.
¡°The
owner, Potiphar, has given me great grace. But how could I do such a bad
thing?
This
is a sin against God.¡± he said, rejecting her.
|
13
|
|
Potiphar's wife did not give up. On a day when no
one was at home, she grabbed Joseph's clothes and dragged him along, tempting
him to join her.
Joseph
stripped off his captive garments, fled the scene, and ran out of the house.
Joseph resisted the temptation of Potiphar's wife and did not sin.
|
14
|
|
Potiphar's
wife was angry when Joseph did not listen to her. She waited with Joseph's
clothes and lied to her husband Potiphar. ¡°That Joseph was about to do
something bad to me, so I shouted, and he was startled, and he left his
clothes and ran away.¡±
When Potiphar heard this, he arrested Joseph and
threw him into the prison where the king's prisoners were.
|
15
|
|
Joseph was falsely accused and went to prison, but God was with him. God
showed him unfailing love. No matter what Joseph did, he did his best with
faith in God. God made sure that everything Joseph did had good results.
|
16
|
|
This
appearance of Joseph gave faith to the chief of the jail. The jailer allowed
Joseph to take care of all the prisoners in the prison. He also allowed him
to take over all the work that was done in prison. Joseph, who was with God,
became a successful man even in prison.
|
17
|
|
Joseph was abandoned by his wicked brothers and was sold
into Egyptian slavery.
Joseph was
a poor, unhappy man with no one to turn to for help. However, God knew all
the injustice that Joseph suffered and was always with him.
God helped
Joseph to always be successful in everything he did.
The moment we believe in Jesus and become children of God, we are guaranteed
the same blessings as Joseph. When you suffer injustice and have a hard time
because of people, God knows everything and is with you.
With this
faith, I hope that all of you will not lose the courage to believe in any
difficulties.
