Jesus Raising Jairus' Daughter

2

Then one of the synagogue rulers, named Jairus, came there. Seeing Jesus, he fell at his feeta and pleaded earnestly with him,
¡°My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.¡± (Mark 5:22-23)

3

In a town where Jews live, there is a place called a synagogue.

It is a place where they gather to learn the law and hold various other gatherings.

The person in charge of such a synagogue was called a synagogue leader.

4

Today's message is the story of a man named Jairus, the leader of the synagogue.

Jairus had a daughter, about 12 years old, who was very ill.

No matter how hard he tried, his daughter's illness did not get better and only got worse.

Then she was in a dangerous situation that could cost her life.

5

Jairus, the leader of the synagogue, went to Jesus with a desperate heart to heal his daughter.

Jairus got down on his knees before Jesus and told him the circumstances of his daughter.

He then begged him to come with him to his house.

6

Jesus saw Jairus' earnest heart and accepted his request.

Jesus and Jairus set out for his house.

Jairus' heart was impatient, fearing that his daughter might be wrong.

7

But on the way, something unexpected happened.

A woman who had been bleeding for 12 years touched Jesus' cloak without him knowing.

Immediately, the woman experienced a miracle of healing from her own long illness.

8

Knowing that power had gone out of Himself, Jesus stopped the way He was going.

Jesus met a woman who had been healed by touching his outer garment.

Jesus greatly commended and blessed the woman's faith for trying to do so, believing that it would be better if she just touched cloak of Jesus..

9

However, Jairus was anxious about what would happen to his daughter because Jesus was late to his home. Jairus waited, hoping that Jesus would finish his conversation with the woman and go home. But what Jairus was worried about happened.

10

While Jesus was still talking with the woman, a man from Jairus's house brought sad news to Jairus.

¡°Your daughter died a little while ago,¡± she said. Don't bother the teacher anymore.¡±

Jairus was shocked to heard that his daughter had died

11

Jesus was also listening to what the man was saying to Jairus. Jesus said to Jairus, who was greatly disappointed when he heard the news of his daughter's death.

¡°Do not be afraid, trust me and follow me. Then your daughter will be saved.¡±

12

Jairus believed Jesus' words and led him to his house.

When Jesus arrived at Jairus' house, he went into Jairus' house with only the daughter's        parents and three disciples, Peter, John, and James. Jesus did not allow others to follow in.

13

People in the house were weeping for the dead girl.

Jesus said to them, ¡°Stop crying. This child is not dead. She is sleeping now,¡± he said.

When Jesus told them that the dead child was sleeping, the people there laughed at him.

14

Jesus approached the girl who was lying dead.

And he took the dead girl's hand and said,

¡°Talitha koum!¡± he said.

The meaning of these words is [Girl, get up!].

15

Now Jesus was commanding the dead girl to get up.

As soon as Jesus said, ¡°Talitha koum¡± a miracle occurred that the child, who had just died, came back to life. Those who saw the miracle of Jesus raising a child from the dead were so amazed.

16

After Jesus told them to keep what he had done, he said to them, ¡°Give this child something to eat.¡±

Jesus performed a miracle to bring a dead child back to life with one word, [Talitha koum].

This miracle showed that Jesus is the God who controls life.

17

Just as Jairus's daughter died and came to life, we too are people who died and came to life.

We are already dead in our sins. Jesus died on the cross to save us.
We are people who have received new life again through faith in Jesus.

We must always remember that the Lord of the life we have received is Jesus.

We must strive to become all of us who do the things that please Jesus while we live on this earth with the right faith to believe that Jesus is the Lord of our life.
