Salvation that can only
be obtained through faith in Jesus
|
2
|
|
But even
if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we
preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!
(Galatians 1:8)

Apostle
Paul preached the gospel in Galatia during his first missionary journey.
The
Apostle Paul testified to the people there the truth of salvation through
faith in Jesus.
He said, ¡°Gentlemen, only Jesus is the only Messiah who can give us
salvation.¡±
|
4
|
|
¡°It doesn't matter who you are.
Anyone who believes in Jesus can be saved.
Anyone who believes in Jesus can receive the kingdom of heaven as a gift.¡±
After hearing Paul's words, many people began to believe in Jesus.

|
Before meeting Paul, they thought that
in order to go to heaven, they had to keep all the laws just like the Jews
did. However, the apostle Paul preached the gospel of Jesus to them that only
through Jesus can they become the people of the kingdom of heaven. As a
result, they came to believe in Jesus with a happy heart.

|
Paul established the Galatia
church so that people who believe in Jesus can live a life of faith. Paul
taught the gospel to the Galatian church members so that they could lead a
life of faith without wavering. When the apostle Paul saw that the Galatia
church was firmly established, he went on an evangelistic tour to preach the
gospel to another place.
|

|
|
However,
after Paul left, people who believed in Judaism began to enter the Galatia
church.
They began to say something different from what the Galatian church members
had been taught. They said that Paul was wrong when he said that people can
be saved by believing in Jesus alone.
|
8
|
|
From a young age, they were people
who strictly followed the Jewish law. They told the people that they could
not be saved unless they were circumcised as prescribed by the law and obeyed
the law.
|
9
|
|
They attacked Paul with false
words to say that the gospel he preached was a lie.
¡°How can Paul be an apostle? He didn't even go with Jesus. Rather, he was a
man who tried to kill those who believed in Jesus. How can such a person
become an apostle?
So his teaching is wrong.¡±

Rumors
about what was happening in the Galatia church came to be heard by Paul.
Apostle Paul was very hurt. But he wasn't in a position to get there right
away. So the Apostle Paul decided that he would convey his heart to them by
writing a letter to them. These letters are the Bible called Galatians.
|

|
|
The
Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Galatian Church, first said that he was an
apostle that God personally raised up.
¡°Paul, an apostle - sent not from men
nor by a man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the
dead -(Galatians 1:1)¡±
|
12
|
|
The
Apostle Paul did not walk with Jesus when he was on this earth. However, on
the way to Damascus, Jesus appeared and met Paul. He made Paul an apostle by
Jesus himself. So the legalists saying that Paul was not an apostle is a lie.
|
13
|
|
Paul also
rebuked the Galatians for abandoning the word of truth and falling into wrong
faith. And he adamantly said that there is no such gospel as what they
preach. ¡°There is no other gospel than Jesus.¡± He said that what these people
were preaching was not the right gospel, but a false gospel.
|
14
|
|
Paul
clearly explained the reason why they preach such a nonsensical gospel.
¡°But there are some who are trying to disturb you and make the gospel of
Christ strange¡±
Paul revealed that they have the evil purpose of making the true gospel
strange so that people won't believe in Jesus.
|
15
|
|
Paul firmly said that even if it was an
angel who came down from heaven, if he preached any other gospel other than
the gospel he preached, that is, salvation through ¡°belief in Jesus alone,¡±
that angel would be cursed. Paul told the Galatians once again precisely that
the gospel he preached was the only way to salvation.

|
We
are people who have been saved through faith in Jesus. We need to hold onto
this word of truth even more firmly.
We must remember that those who say that there is no other way to be saved
than by faith in Jesus are evil people trying to separate us from Jesus.
|
17
|
|
We must once again hold on to the fact
that salvation comes only through faith in the Son Jesus, whom God sent to
this earth to save us. Heretics, like the Jews who tempted the Galatians, try
to tempt us who have true faith.
The secret to overcoming such temptation is to be sure that Jesus is the only
way of salvation, the truth, and the life, like the apostle Paul, and we must
not be shaken, believing that only through faith in Jesus can we be saved and
go to heaven.
[John 14:6] ¡°Jesus answered, "I
am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.¡±
