Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.
Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

God's Promise to Joshua

2

Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you;
do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.

Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth;
meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.
Then you will be prosperous and successful. (
Joshua 1:7-8)

3

Moses, who led the Israelites out of Egypt, went up to the top of Mount Pisgah.
God showed Moses all the land there. These were the lands that God had promised to Abraham.

4

Unfortunately, however, Moses could not enter the land and died in the land of Moab at the age of 120. The Bible describes Moses, who died at the age of 120.
[Deuteronomy 34:7] ¡°Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak nor his strength gone.¡±
The Israelites mourned the death of Moses and wept for 30 days.

5

Before Moses died, he laid his hands on the person who would succeed him as the leader.
That man was Joshua.
The Israelites recognized Joshua, whom Moses laid his hands on, as a new leader and followed him.

6

Joshua, who became Israel's new leader, is a faithful man who has been by Moses' side throughout his life. Long ago, Moses sent 12 spies to explore the land of Canaan.
Joshua, as the representative of the tribe of Ephraim, had also gone as a spy on one occasion when a man from each tribe was selected and sent.

7

Of the 12 spies who visited Canaan, 10 said they could not conquer Canaan at all.
At that time, Joshua and Caleb both spoke courageously with great faith. ¡°If the Lord has mercy on us, He will lead us to that land.
He will give us a fertile land overflowing with milk and honey.¡±

8

Also, Joshua was a man who led the soldiers to war against Amalek. Although he had little war experience, he obeyed Moses' command and went to war. his war was truly a war with a strange experience.

9

When Moses raised his hands high, the Israelites defeated the Amalekites.             Conversely, when Moses was strong and his hand came down, Amalek defeated Israel.

10

Aaron and Hur helped from both sides to keep Moses' hand from coming down.
When Moses' hands did not come down, Amalek could not defeat Israel.
The Israeli army led by Joshua had a great victory.

11

God spoke to Joshua, the new leader of Israel. ¡°My servant Moses is dead. Now, lead all the people across the Jordan River and go to the land I promised your people of Israel.
I promised Moses to give this land to you. I will give it to you wherever the sole of your foot touches it.¡± God promised to give the Israelites the land they would tread.

12

God made another promise to Joshua. ¡°I will be with you as I was with Moses, and no one will stop you as long as you live. I will never leave you, and I will never leave you alone.¡±
God promised Joshua that He would always be with him as He was with Moses.

13

God, who made a wonderful promise to Joshua, also told the secret to making that promise come true.

Let's read together the words God gave to Joshua.
¡°This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.¡±

14

The first secret is to always read the book of the law, or the Bible, aloud so as not to leave your mouth. God promised Joshua that if you faithfully do this easy task of reading the Word of God and reading it aloud, God will be with Joshua.

15

The second is to act according to the teachings of the Bible and do your best to keep the words.
God has promised that Joshua's work will be successful if he acts according to what he has learned from God's Word.

16

Later, Joshua succeeded in conquering the land of Canaan as God had promised.
This means that Joshua kept what God had promised. Also, as God had promised to Joshua,
He was always with him and made all things successful.

17

God's promise to Joshua is not just for Joshua. It is a promise given to all who believe and keep this promise. Like Joshua, friends who want to achieve the blessings and success that God has with them must read and practice the Word of God aloud day and night so that they do not leave their mouths.

Also, God allows anyone to live a successful life like Joshua if they keep and act according to His Word.

I sincerely hope that all of you who listen to this word today will become friends of faith who love and keep this word of God and receive the blessing that God exalts and makes you successful.
