Micah and Mother who did what they thought

2

[ Judges 17:6]

In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as he saw fit.

3

After Joshua's death, Israel was ruled by judges. People living in that era lived in idolatry rather than serving God the King. Most of the Israelites did not serve God according to God's laws, but rather served God as they wanted.

4

A man named Micah lived with his mother in the hill country of Ephraim, Israel.
Micah's mother had one hundred and one hundred shekels of silver, which she cherished.

5

One day Micah's mother lost her own silver money. She had stolen a thousand and one hundred shekels of silver. Micah's mother was so angry that she so cursed the man with her own money.

6

The person who stole this money was none other than his son Micah.
Micah heard the curse his mother puts on the thief.
Micah feared that he would curse himself because he had stolen his mother's money.

7

After some time Micah went to his mother and told her what he had done.
"mother! Last time I heard you curse for losing a thousand and one hundred shekels of silver.
I stole the money.¡±
Micah's mother feared that the curse she had placed on her son, so she hastily translated her blessings into words. She said, ¡°May the Lord turn your wrongs into blessings.¡±

8

Micah returned the one thousand and one hundred shekels of silver that he had stolen to his mother. Her mother, who had received her silver money, said, ¡°I will consecrate this silver money to the Lord.¡± Micah's mother, who said she would give the money holy to God, did something strange.

9

She took 200 of the money and took it to the silversmith. She then asked him to make an idol.
The silversmith made two idols as Micah's mother requested. One made a carved idol, and the other made an idol by melting silver.

10

Micah's mother took the idol she had made to her son Micah's house.
In Micah's house there was a temple dedicated to idols. Two idols were placed in the temple.
This act of offering money holy to God was a crime of creating an idol that God hates the most.

11

Micah, who received an idol from his mother, made the ephod, the robes of the high priest.
And he made several more idols and placed them in his temple.
And he appointed one of his sons as his priest.

12

What Micah did was a big mistake against God's law. God only permitted the priesthood to the descendants of Aaron from the tribe of Levi.
And the ephod was a garment that only the priests could wear.
Micah violated God's laws and acted according to his will.

13

Micah did another thing. One day a young man was looking for a place to live and he came to Micah's house. Micah asked him where he was coming from.
The young man said to Micah, ¡°I am a Levite from Bethlehem in the land of Judah, and I am looking for a place to live.¡±

14

When Micah heard that the young man was of the tribe of Levi, he made a very attractive offer to the young man. ¡°Let¡¯s live with me. Be the father of our house, and be my priest.
I will give you ten shekels of silver each year.
I will also give you clothes and food.¡± The young Levite, who had no place to live, accepted Micah's request, and from that day on, he became a priest in Micah's house.

15

Micah thought, ¡°I have made a Levite my priest, so the Lord will bless me!¡±
But he made the mistake of setting up her priests as if he were God. also, a priest is a person who works only for God.
But he even made the mistake of appointing a priest to work for Micah.

16

What Micah and his mother did was wrong, not acceptable to God.
Judges 17:6 tells us exactly why.
[In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as they saw fit.](Judges 17:6)
During the period of the Judges, the people of Israel did not properly serve God, the only king.
And because they did not fully understand the word of God, the king, they acted as they wished.

17

We have been saved through faith in Jesus and become children of God.
Children of God must live with only God, who has given us salvation, as their king.
Children of God should not act as they please.
We must always make sure that what we want to do does not go against the Word of God.
Whatever we do, we must act according to the laws of God's Word.
As Micah and his mother did,
I must follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit so that I do not fall into the mistake of serving God the way I want to.
