The Holy Spirit Comes on the Day of Pentecost as promised

2

Bible verse : Acts 2:3-4(NIV)

They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and
came to rest on each of them.
All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak
in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

3

After Jesus died on the cross and was resurrected, he was on this earth for 40 days. After 40 days, he took his disciples up the Mount of Olives for Jesus to return to the kingdom of heaven. Before Jesus returned to heaven, he made an important promise to his disciples. ¡°Sooner or later, the Holy Spirit will come to earth on my behalf. When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you will receive power and do the wonderful work of conveying Me to the whole world.¡±

4

After Jesus went to heaven, he left the word that he would send the Holy Spirit and was taken up to heaven in front of his disciples.
The disciples watched until Jesus disappeared into the clouds.

While the disciples were staring blankly at the sky, two angels in white stood     beside them and said to them.

5

¡°Why are you all staring blankly at the sky? Jesus, who went to heaven in front of you today, will come back to this earth just as he did.¡±
The disciples were strengthened by the angel's message.
The disciples came down from the Mount of Olives and returned to Jerusalem.

6

The disciples went up to the upper room where they were tied up.
There, they started meeting while waiting for the Holy Spirit that Jesus promised.
There were about 120 people gathered in the upper room, including Jesus' disciples, the women who followed Jesus, and Jesus' brothers.

7

The people gathered there believed in the word of promise of Jesus and prayed with one mind. It has been about 10 days since Jesus went to heaven.
It was the day of Pentecost, a Jewish feast.
That day, too, they were gathering together and praying.

8

Strange things started happening in that attic that day. There was something like a very strong wind. The sound of the wind quickly filled the house.
And a great tongue of flame appeared before their eyes.

9

The flame diverged into many branches. Those split sparks stayed on each and every one of those gathered there. The Holy Spirit promised by Jesus came to that upper room in the form of a flame of fire.

10

The people upon whom the Holy Spirit descended were filled with joy they had never experienced before. And they began to speak as the Holy Spirit made them speak. Even more amazing, they were able to speak not only in their native language, but also in another language they had never learned.

11

At that time, there were many devout Jews from different countries gathered in Jerusalem. The people there saw the miraculous appearance that happened to the believers who received the Holy Spirit and gathered. They were so amazed to hear them speaking in their own language.

12

Those who saw the wonderful sight said: ¡°Look! Are not all these people speaking now Galileans? But what¡®s going on when we hear these people speak our local language? We are hearing about the great things God has done in our local language.¡± Seeing this wonderful thing, they glorified God.

13

But others made fun of them, saying, "They drank too much." Hearing them say that, Peter and the apostles shouted to the people there.
¡°It's only 9:00 in the morning, and it makes no sense to be drunk. This wonderful thing that has happened now is the fulfillment of what the prophet Joel said.¡±

14

Apostle Peter delivered the words of the prophet Joel, who prophesied that the Holy Spirit would come to this earth.
[¡®In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.]

15

Then Peter testified that the Jesus whom the Jews killed on the cross was the Messiah. He testified that Jesus is the Savior who overcame death, was resurrected, ascended to heaven, and sits at the right hand of God.
The Holy Spirit made it possible for all those gathered there to understand what Peter was saying, no matter what language they spoke.

16

The people who heard those words were heartbroken when they heard that the Jesus they killed on the cross was the Messiah. So they asked Peter, ¡°What shall we do?¡± Peter said, ¡°Repent and be baptized each of you in the name of Jesus Christ.
Then your sins will be forgiven, and you will receive the Holy Spirit as a gift.¡±
After hearing Peter's words, there were 3,000 people who repented and accepted Jesus that day.

17

The Jerusalem Church was established through the gospel preached by people filled with the Holy Spirit. Because of the work of the Holy Spirit that began with them, the whole world knew that Jesus was the true Savior. The Holy Spirit who came to people on the day of Pentecost is still with all the saved saints.
The Holy Spirit is with us and dwells in us from the moment we believe in Jesus and are saved. Those who are with the Holy Spirit will live a life that testifies to Jesus, just like those who received the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost.
He strengthens our hearts and helps us to preach Jesus well.
And the Holy Spirit helps us, like the Pentecostal saints, to live the life of a person filled with the Holy Spirit who testifies of Jesus to everyone around us.
